I was very upset when I learned of the proposed bill that would limit the breweries, especially as it concerns the taprooms. The taproom experience is an important part of many communities and many people’s daily and weekly lives. Taprooms are places where people gather to catch up, listen to local musicians, enjoy up-and-coming artists, and imbibe is something that is made fifty feet away, not 2,000 miles from here.

I agree that the liquor licenses need to be looked at again and reassessed. I believe they are limited by county, and as Montana’s population grows (including the influx of travelers and tourists during the summer and winter months), so too should its restaurants and bars and breweries too!

Yours is certainly definitely the most well-stated commentary on what is currently happening in Montana on the MTA/brewery fronts that I’ve run across. I’ve already drafted my letter to the legislature in opposition to LC1429, and I’ll write yet again once we finally get its wording. I’m someone who aspires to being a part of a brewery someday, whether in ownership or management but most definitely beyond that of mere consumer. The atmosphere being created by our bureaucrats and the MTA is not at all friendly toward wanting to make that a reality in Montana. I’m going to do what I can to fight against the insanity. I hope others will, too.
